IDEA1, the mixed-use community developed by Lowe, LaSalle Investment Management and I.D.E.A. Partners, has welcomed Young Hickory, a locally-owned coffee shop serving coffee and craft beer to the East Village property. Aligned with the IDEA District’s vision to create a series of enriching experiences for the community, this onsite restaurant is open to the public and located adjacent to the property’s ground level courtyard, The Hub, to encourage connection and collaboration.
“When we decided to grow our business by opening a second location, we wanted to find a spot that shared one of our core values of supporting the community,” said Clayton Summers, owner of Young Hickory. “We know that East Village is a fast growing market and the live/work/play environment that IDEA1 has created is perfect for our coffee, beer and even coffee-flavored-beer!”
Located at the corner of 13th and F Street, Young Hickory boasts a diverse selection of craft beer cans from both local and out-of-state brewers. The coffee shop also serves Bird Rock Coffee Roasters coffee and Tea Gallerie teas, as well as breakfast, lunch and dinner all day long.
“This eatery is an excellent addition to the community here at IDEA1,” said Pete Garcia of I.D.E.A. Partners. “With Young Hickory connected to The Hub, the public can enjoy coffee while they work in the courtyard, grab a beer with a friend or sip on either during one of our community events.”
The common areas at IDEA1 are designed to allow regular connection and collaboration for residents and the public. With a total of 295 apartment homes, restaurant space and creative office space on the street level and a variety of common areas, IDEA1 is designed to help grow a community of entrepreneurs and fuel change makers, visionaries and professionals. The mixed-use development’s co-working spaces and events also align with the IDEA District’s goal to create thousands of design and tech jobs across 35 city blocks in Downtown San Diego’s Upper East Village.
“The goal is to offer a stimulating environment to collaborate, socialize, take a class, enjoy a movie or just relax,” said David Malmuth of I.D.E.A. Partners. “We’re creating a true mixed-use community here.”
Located on the corner of Park and F Street at 895 Park Boulevard, San Diego, Calif., IDEA1 is leasing apartments that offer bold new housing for those who want to be part of a vibrant, creative community. Residents also have access to the 2,000 square foot exercise room, rooftop clubhouse, outdoor deck, bike repair shop and gravity-defying water tower spa that overlooks the Downtown San Diego skyline and bay.
