WR Kitchen & Bar is proud to announce the opening of its Carlsbad location, adding to its first outpost in Laguna Niguel. The new location is housed in a 3,900 square-foot space at The Square at Bressi Ranch, 2668 Gateway Road. An exciting new addition to the area’s culinary scene, the barbecue haven is tailored to today’s more sophisticated, time-challenged guest with a focus on serving delicious, high quality food at an excellent value, in an energetic, casually-upscale environment. As the offshoot of the Southern California-based barbecue chain, Wood Ranch, WR Kitchen & Bar is ready to bring fast-casual flair to the city’s barbecue and comfort food lovers.
Featuring a wood-fired open kitchen, WR Kitchen & Bar offers an a la carte menu, allowing each guest more options to customize his or her order with maximum flexibility in the selection of items and portion size. The eatery has also honed its menu to cater to a wider price range, with items to accommodate everyone’s budget.
“We challenged our entire team to reimagine Wood Ranch to succeed for the next 27 years,” explains Wood Ranch and WR Kitchen & Bar co-founder Eric Anders, referencing the anniversary of Wood Ranch. “We’ll never sacrifice quality, but we are making our service and systems more efficient and economical for our guests. We’re excited and proud of what we’ve developed and believe our guests will be too!”
At WR Kitchen & Bar, guests are greeted upon arrival and are ushered to an ordering station at the bar, prior to choosing from the location’s vast seating options in the dining room, bar or patio where their order will be delivered. While the initial ordering process is fast-casual, the eatery still has servers stopping by tables to take additional orders for second cocktails, dessert or anything else a guest may want.
WR Kitchen & Bar features Wood Ranch favorites, including Tri Tip, Baby Back Ribs and BBQ Chopped Salad, and fresh, house-made desserts. Did we mention the tacos? These creations are uniquely filled with your choice of brisket, pulled pork, salmon roasted chicken, tri tip or roasted cauliflower. Additional crowd-pleasers from the eatery’s original locations include Crispy Buffalo Cauliflower and Wood-Grilled Shishito Peppers. WR Kitchen & Bar also houses a full bar, curated by the concept’s talented beverage team, touting hand-crafted batch cocktails, 12 craft beers on draft, and several outstanding value-priced wines. The bar will lends a lively atmosphere with seating for 93 inside and an additional 58 on the patio.

Wood Ranch was founded in Moorpark, CA, in 1992 by Ofer Shemtov and Eric Anders. The restaurants have been honored with multiple awards, including “Top Barbecue Spot” and earned a Certificate of Distinction for receiving outstanding scores in both food and service in the Zagat Restaurant Guide Los Angeles/Southern California, America’s premier dining-out guide, for six out of the last eight years.
