You’ll feel like you’re south of the border at this boisterously decorated authentic Mexican eatery that is the longest standing restaurant in Del Mar.
Back in the 30s, La Tienda was Del Mar’s first hot spot restaurant at this very location. En Fuego Cantina & Grill has respected tradition by pleasing diners with Mexican cuisine, seafood, and tangy margaritas at this 2-story restaurant where you can dine alfresco in covered areas. My favorite part of the restaurant is the indoor La Tienda Wine Room that has been restored to retain the old style ambiance with old beams and the original 1930s fireplace. En Fuego (loosely translated to “on fire”) offers bold flavors from the Mexican Riviera such as Borracho Shrimp sautéed with garlic, tequila, jalapeños, and a touch of cream, or slow roasted Honey Habanero Chicken in a sweet spicy glaze, topped with roasted corn relish.
