Vegetarian Fall Flavors

Local restaurants are ringing in the season with vegetarian flavors that’ll at least give us a taste of fall before temperatures finally drop.

Little Italy’s trendy Japanese dining destination, Cloak & Petal, has revamped its menu to include vegetarian specialties such as their Vegetable Bento Box, available for lunch from noon to 4 p.m. and featuring a generous serving of rice, seaweed salad, three vegetable gyoza and four pieces of their vegetable roll – with avocado, cucumber, asparagus, gobo and pickled daikon. Sushi-lovers can gorge on the Crazy Usagi, rolled with seasonal vegetables, vegan miso aioli, black garlic sauce, yuzu gel, smoked salt, radish, renkon, micro mint, lemon oil and sesame seeds.

The only thing more delicious than a breakfast sando is a secret breakfast sando… start fall mornings off right at one of Eggies’ locations in Pacific Beach, Liberty Station or East Village, and order their new secret menu item, “Plants Came First.” Trust us when we say, you won’t want to share this secret! If anyone can do vegetarian tacos right, it’s The Taco Stand, and their Mushroom Taco is a mush-try. Packed with seasoned and sauteed mushrooms intermingled with grilled onion and topped with avocado and salsa, this creation came just in time for mushroom season – that’s right, mushrooms are most plentiful during autumn months!
