TAHONA: Newly opened mezcal bar and restaurant Tahona in Old Town has crafted a Valentine’s Day dinner experience to feed all the senses. Guests can join Tahona on February 14 at either a 6 p.m. or 8 p.m. seating time for a romantic evening lit by candlelight and featuring a four-course meal by Chef Adrian Villareal Mora with mezcal pairings. Mister A’s is taking romance to new heights on Valentine’s Day – 12 flights up overlooking San Diego to be exact! Viewpoint Brewing Co in Del Mar: With sweeping views of the San Dieguito Lagoon, Viewpoint is a beautiful spot for a fun Valentine’s night with or without a sweetheart. For the occasion, Viewpoint will host a special beer dinner that is open to singles and couples. The dinner features four courses and an amuse bouche by acclaimed Chef Gunnar Plantar paired with their house-brewed beers. Masters Kitchen and Cocktail: An elegant dinner prepared specifically for Valentine’s Day by Executive Chef André Clark will include three courses and a dessert. Standouts include Oysters on the Half Shell, Burrata Caprese, Pacifico Striped Bass, Hanger Steak, Farm Risotto, and Pâte à Choux with ganache, caramel sauce, and Chantilly cream. Every day in February is Valentine’s Day at Theatre Box, the Gaslamp Quarter’s biggest, brightest and newest entertainment complex. Theatre Box will toast to cupid with four over-the-top cocktails and milkshakes created especially for the month of love:

  • The Bubbly Kisses Goblet is a special edition of the venue’s smoking goblet, made with brut champagne, strawberry rum, strawberry liqueur, grenadine, fresh strawberry puree and Sprite, garnished with gummy kisses and fresh strawberries.
  • The Valentines Smooch Martini is a combination of fresh strawberry and banana puree, strawberry rum, crème de banana, strawberry schnapps and cream, garnished with a gummy kiss.
  • The Naughty Insane Milkshake is a cookies and cream milkshake topped with whipped cream, dark chocolate-dipped Rice Krispies Treats heart, chocolate sprinkles and dark chocolate-covered strawberries drizzled with white chocolate served dark red chocolate ganache-dipped mug covered in chocolate hearts and sliced strawberries.

Bleu Bohème, located at 4090 Adams Ave. in Kensington, will pay homage to one of France’s most famous and influential mistresses, King Louis XV’s Madame de Pompadour, with a specialty cocktail in her honor on Wednesday, Feb. 13. Madame de Pompadour is famed for serving as King Louis XV’s official chief mistress from 1745 to 1751, exerting influence over the king and the court as a valued friend and advisor. Bleu Bohème’s Madame de Pompadour cocktail is made with white wine, crème de cassis, pomegranate juice and soda water, garnished with a strawberry, priced at $13.

Bleu Bohème will offer guests a Valentine’s Day cocktail celebrating amour, the ‘Saint Valentine Martini,’ a nod to the holiday’s namesake. The Saint Valentine Martini combines Flor de Cana rum, Grand Marnier, Fonseca #27 port and fresh lime juice, priced at $14.

Not in the mood for love? Prohibition, the Gaslamp Quarter speakeasy located at 548 Fifth Ave., will make guests grateful for their ex on Valentine’s Day. Guests who bring in a photo of their former lover and tear it up will receive a complimentary shot of whisky.

Prohibition will celebrate Mistress Day, Wednesday, Feb. 13, with cocktails that pay homage to three of American presidents’ most well-known women – Marilyn, Monica and Stormy. Created by lead bartender and GBOD Hospitality Group beverage director, Ryan Andrews, the hand-crafted cocktails will be available for $13. Marilyn is a combination of rye whiskey, demerara, R&D cherry apple bitters and R&D house bitters, for an Old Fashioned-inspired tribute to the ‘50s and ‘60s. Monica is a mix of gin, lime, pomegranate and curaçao. Stormy is made with tequila, lime, orgeat, R&D sarsaparilla bitters and cinnamon.

The Morning After, the Gaslamp Quarter’s new brunch spot and sports bar located at 531 F St., will feature drinks and dishes worthy of a cheat day on Wednesday, Feb. 13. Mistress Day cocktail offerings include the Affair-y Tale, made with rum, passion fruit juice, hibiscus syrup and lime juice, priced at $11; the Side Sips Flight, a trio of mimosas with guests’ choice of watermelon, caramel apple, pink grapefruit and tropical mango, priced at $20.

Curadero’s Valentine’s Dinner for Two: The vibrant, downtown Mexican restaurant known for bold flavors and creative drinks is offering guests a unique Valentine’s Day – where the food and drink are just as sophisticated as they are playful. Their Dinner for Two is a multi-course menu from Chef Brad Kraten, complete with cocktail pairings from bartender Alex Gregg.
