The New Yorker Comes To Town

The New YorkerOver 2000 miles from the rumbling subways, honking taxi horns and bright lights of the Big Apple, there’s a San Diego spot that’s tossing something special into the local dining scene. The New Yorker brings the flavors of New York-style fare to the heart of the Gaslamp.

The eatery found its home within the historic Chinese Laundry building, built in 1923. Since then, The New Yorker has reinvented the space with red brick walls, graffiti art, penny-covered floors and a balcony mimicking the exterior of a New York City building. Born with the intention of providing a slice of the Big Apple on the West Coast, the restaurant and bar certainly delivers. It goes beyond the typical pizza joint—with a vibrant bar program and fare including Duck Rolls, a Yankee Stadium Pretzel, specialty pastas, loaded artisan sandwiches and authentic thin crust pies.

The New YorkerServing up East Coast tastes for lunch, happy hour, dinner and late night snacks, The New Yorker is making its mark on downtown San Diego. Start your meal with Duck Rolls, flour tortillas wrapped with slow-roasted pulled duck, scallions, Hoisin sauce, cucumber and cilantro. Experience an ultimate burst of flavors with the All In Pizza, topped with tomato sauce, mushrooms, pepperoni, sausage, green peppers and red onions. In addition to the craft pizzas sliding out of its oven, The New Yorker offers the tried-and-true pies that pizza lovers flock to, including Cheese, Pepperoni, Veggie and Margherita.

When paired with a happening bar that caters to thirsty guests with a selection of quality pours and handcrafted cocktails, the food and atmosphere do more than impress. The eatery is quickly becoming the place to enjoy a meal or night out, with just the right amount of energy from the downtown scene. Stop by for some sips and sounds on the weekends as a DJ spins from the interior balcony. From 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Happy Hour is the ideal way to unwind from a work day. On Friday through Sunday, ramp up for an evening on the town with Happy Hour from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

The New Yorker fuses the flavors of New York eats with the ambiance of San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter.
