Paying homage to San Diego swimming legend Florence Chadwick, The Florence is a restaurant, cocktail bar and café, slated for a March opening. The 10,000-square-foot indoor and two-acre outdoor space will be located at Kilroy Sabre Springs, radically transforming the office park into a culinary and events destination for tenants, nearby businesses, families, and the greater San Diego community.
The Florence features thoughtful and premium design and creative spaces, an exceptional, locally-sourced menu, refined beer, wine and cocktail program and an array of unique amenities, such as intimate fire pits, a regulation-sized bocce ball court, covered “boat shack” dining room and chic, beach resort-style seating throughout. The menu is driven by partner and Executive Chef Ricardo Heredia, a 2014 World Food Champion alumnus, known for his work at Alchemy, and supported by founder Chef Antonio Friscia and partner and Culinary Director Fern Tran. It showcases the chef’s culinary expertise with a creative and fresh spin on local fare.
In addition to elevated cuisine at a conservative price point, The Florence offers a one-of-a-kind cocktail and wine program, thoughtfully crafted by Spirits Director Jason O’Bryan and Wine Director Victoria O’Bryan, who are recognized as the best mixologist and sommelier in the market, respectively.
The seamlessly-bridged indoor and outdoor spaces bring a home-like atmosphere to Kilroy Sabre Springs, with a range of seating and gaming options, similar to a well-appointed backyard. Thoughtful design elements combine a new American coastal theme with powerful feminine touches. Led by head designer and partner Keoni Barcarse, in coordination with architecture firm Ware Malcomb, the restaurant offers a timeless, refined and comfortable space. Guests will notice custom lounge furniture, stunning chandeliers, Cape Cod shutters, vintage salvaged wood-backed large banquettes flanking the space and a variety of Florence Chadwick memorabilia.
“There couldn’t be a better time in our world to create a new venue themed around a powerful female athlete like Florence Chadwick,” said Antonio Friscia, Legal Restaurants owner and chef. “With Florence as the inspiration, we wanted to transform guests to a great era through creative design and provide a comfortable, elegant venue for tenants, local businesses and families. We’ve put together one of the best beverage and culinary teams in San Diego, and I can’t wait to see it all come to life this spring.”
The Florence is a destination for corporate and social events, with nine different event spaces ranging in size and occupancy. From an intimate pre-fixe social dinner to a large-scale corporate event, The Florence challenges the perception of what is possible in an office development. Outside meeting and event catering will also be available.
