The restaurant duo, Stella Public House and Halcyon are expanding with new outposts in San Diego’s “North City” destination in San Marcos. Expected to open in mid-September, this will be the first experience North County residents get to have of the popular dining concepts. Stella Public House sources from local farms to create a wood-fired pizza eatery and craft beer tap room experience. This couples beautifully with Halcyon’s modern coffeehouse and cocktail lounge open from morning to night.
The restaurant venues suit the North City concept well with its walkable neighborhood environment located adjacent to the California State University San Marcos campus. North City is a 204-acre, mixed-use community located in the heart of San Marcos. Its downtown-like presence is the first of its kind in North County. Located on the ground floor of the recently opened, mixed-use Block C in North City, both venues are expected to open in September and will expand the brand that has well-established locations in Texas and California.
Separate and distinct, the 2,812 square-foot Stella Public House and 1,709 square-foot Halcyon are situated across from one another and open to either side of the large Halcyon Lounge that also serves as the Block C entryway, creating a “lobby lounge.” Both of their storefronts open completely to the outdoor plaza with extended seating, creating a vibrant space of dining and interaction.
With the expansion of Stella Public House and Halcyon in North County, the East Village location will also be undergoing changes. The joint destination will be changed to create a larger Halcyon that replaces Stella Public House with a B-side Bar. Halcyon’s B-side expansion will bring vintage arcade and interactive gaming to East Village. Halcyon’s business itself will not change, serving as a community venue for breakfast, brunch, daytime working, and out-of-the-box cocktails. Customers in East Village can get ready for weekly dinner specials alongside favorite arcade and group player games making the destination perfect for date nights, parties or private events.
“We set our intention to become a community gathering place and we’ve done just that,” said John Long, co-owner of the venues. “The vision of the North City project is exciting to be part of – we are happy to be included in this new destination that will truly create a hub of everything our brands care about: community, quality design and sustainability. And in East Village, the new expanded Halcyon with B-side bar serves as an extension of what best serves our customers. Now guests can come for lunch, connect to Wi-Fi to get a bit of work done with espresso, then stay for happy hour and games –– and come back for weekend brunch.”
