For the eleventh consecutive year, Seaport Village is welcoming the most colorful, entertaining and eccentric street performers to its annual Spring Busker Festival. On Saturday, March 4 and Sunday, March 5, 2017, fire breathers, acrobats, jugglers and contortionists will return for another spectacular weekend of live street entertainment. The free festival runs from noon to 6 p.m. each day bringing incredible energy and unforgettable acts to the cobblestone streets of San Diego’s waterfront.
Popular across the globe, buskers are public street performers known for their unusual and awe-inspiring street acts. The Seaport Village Spring Busker Festival is the only festival of its kind in California, bringing nine acts to perform throughout the outdoor waterfront shopping, dining and entertainment district.
Now in its eleventh year, the 2017 lineup is a mixture of returning and debuting performers, featuring acts from across the nation, including sword jugglers to extraordinary hula hoopers and contortionists. In addition, festival-goers can enjoy live entertainment at Seaport’s sister property, The Headquarters at Seaport. On Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5, noted artist Kelsey Montague – whose work has been featured in The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, Buzzfeed, and MTV – will create a live interactive mural in the center courtyard. Guests can also enjoy a live DJ set with Mason Dyer from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and festive music with Manny Cepeda and his quartet from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Come nightfall, Seaport Village will let performers loose for Buskers After Dark on Saturday, March 4 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. This untamed show will feature a DJ, food and drink specials, and busker acts best suited for those over age 18 including jaw-dropping fire acts, adult humor and electric performances.
Adding to the Spring Busker Festival flair, visitors can enjoy shopping and dining at more than 50 locally owned Seaport Village shops and eateries from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. While the Spring Busker Festival is free to attend, buskers make a livelihood by performing and will be accepting tips.
Parking is available in the Seaport Village lots, where guests pay $5 for the first two hours with validation and $3 for every 30 minutes thereafter. In addition, a complimentary shuttle will be provided from Hilton Hotel Bayfront parking lot located on Park Blvd. Parking is $10 for the day and shuttles run every 15 minutes from 11:30 to 6:30 p.m. on both March 4 and 5. Additionally, Seaport Village is easily accessible on Metropolitan Transit System Trolley, via the Seaport Village stop on the Green Line.
