Restaurant Openings and Expansions

Recent winner of the Critic’s Choice category at the San Diego Ramen Festival, it’s no secret that Tajima Ramen continues to cultivate an elevated ramen experience. With seven total locations, owner Isamu Morikizono will explore a new concept with his new venture in spring of 2020, Corner Chicken. The new eatery will set up shop in downtown and focus on Jidori Chicken and comfort style sides. Tajima also plans to open their eight location, on College and El Cajon Boulevard, in the spring.

With four locations and four more on the way, City Tacos will continue to cater to all taco lovers in 2020. Owner Gerald Torres will expand the City Tacos family with new locations in Pacific Beach, downtown, Sorrento Valley and Seaport Village. Adding their own flair to the taqueria world, each location will showcase a signature design and menu exclusives. Up first among the multiple 2020 openings, is the downtown location where baseball and taco fans alike can celebrate. City Tacos Ballpark Taqueria is located at 323 Seventh Ave, San Diego, CA 92101

Downtown’s favorite coffee and bagel shop, Spill the Beans has created a loyal fan base of ‘Pot Heads’.  Co-owners Dave Jones and Aron Langellier of the successful restaurant group, The Verant Group, will expand the coffee and bagel shop with a new location in Seaport Village. Geared for a 2020 opening, Pastry Chef Karina Orozco will continue to craft irresistible bagel flavors in a 500 sq. foot lighthouse. Customers will be able to grab a cup of coffee and bagels with a ‘walkup and order’ set up.

With three existing San Diego locations including Pacific Beach, Oceanside and Carlsbad, owner Dave Pike will expand the Barrel Republic family with a new location in Temecula. Slated for 2020, customers will be given the freedom to pour with the signature self-pour set up. The new location will offer various beer selections as well as options exclusive to the location. In addition, the Temecula location will continue to cater to beer and food enthusiasts alike with its core menu, featuring favorites such as the parmesan crusted Potato Barrels.
