Queenstown Public House To Benefit Holiday Children’s Toy Drive

New Zealand-inspired restaurant Queenstown Public House, located inside a whimsical historic Victorian cottage in San Diego’s Little Italy is transforming into a charming, life-sized gingerbread house for the month of December to celebrate the holiday season, raise awareness and gather toy donations for children affected by homelessness.

This is the third year that Queenstown Public House is creating a dazzling holiday wonderland by adorning the restaurant with chocolate kisses, lollipops, festive lights, candy canes and frosting around the windows to spread holiday joy to adults and children alike while bringing attention to a worthy cause.

Additionally, anyone who brings an unwrapped toy for donation between November 27 – December 21, will receive a gingerbread house kit and is encouraged to enter the “Kid at Heart” gingerbread house decorating contest. This contest/party will be held at Queenstown on Wednesday, December 13 from 7:00pm – 10:00pm and prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place.

Queenstown is also hosting a kid’s gingerbread decorating contest from November 27- December 13. Kids will be able to submit a photo of their decorated house by emailing kiora@queenstownpublichouse.com. One winner will be chosen for the grand prize of two tickets to LEGOLAND California. Specific contest rules will be posted on Queenstown’s website, queenstownpublichouse.com, on Nov 27th.

“Our life-size gingerbread house is something that the community now looks forward to every year and we’re extremely excited to bring it back this holiday season,” said Queenstown Public House partner, Darren Roach. “We collected hundreds of toys last year, and this year we’re hoping to beat our goal again by surpassing 500 donated toys.”
