Just in time for summer, Pop Pie Co. has introduced whole 9” pies and slices to its menu (attached) for the first time ever. Known for its individual sized sweet and savory pies, the pie shop now has five whole pies varieties to choose from: Apple Crumble, Coconut Cream, Key Lime Pie, German Chocolate Fudge and Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble. Each variety can be purchased by the slice ($5.50) or whole ($30). This is totally new for the homegrown pie shop, co-owned by partners Steven Torres and exec chef Gan Suebsarakham, who also own Stella Jean’s the ice cream shop next door to the University Heights fast-casual restaurant. You can add a scoop of Madagascar Vanilla ice cream from Stella Jean’s to any pie slice for $2. Chef Gan’s pies are decadent, featuring all butter crusts, fresh whipped cream and high quality ingredients.
The new menu also welcomes the return of the Creamy Poblano & Corn (Rajas) individual sized pie, a creamy blend of fire roasted poblano peppers, yellow corn, onion and panela cheese. Chef Gan draws inspiration from both his and Steven’s heritage, resulting in several Thai and Mexican-inspired pies on the menu. Pop Pie Co. is as much of a coffee shop as a pie shop, and the summer menu also includes the addition of Cold Brew Lemonade and a Cold Brew Ice Cream Float with Stella Jean’s Madagascar Vanilla ice cream.
