Oktoberfest Celebration

While Germany’s official Oktoberfest celebration is cancelled due to the pandemic, there are still plenty of ways to celebrate with a stein in-hand, right here in America’s Finest City!

North Park’s booming craft brewery, The Original 40 Brewing Company, is gearing up for celebrations spanning from September 17th to October 3rd. Head Brewer Cosimo Sorrentino will roll out his limited-release Parte Märzen (5.6% ABV), characterized by a tiger’s eye appearance, as well as dry, crisp notes of toast and light caramel that make it a fitting accompaniment to the quintessential Oktoberfest bites they’ll be serving up, including brats, Bavarian pretzels, sauerkraut, and plenty of fancy mustard and beer cheese to go around. Come for the beer and bites, and stay for the brewery’s lineup of Oktoberfest games, taking place on Saturday, September 25th from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Stuff your face in the name of Oktoberfest with their Bavarian pretzel-eating contest, or test your strength and hand-eye coordination with a stein-holding competition and partner pretzel toss. Be sure to don your finest lederhosen and dirndl outfits for a chance to win “best dressed” and come ready to win cash prizes for each contest – did we just up the ante? Prost!

AleSmith Brewing Company just won a gold medal for AleSchmidt Oktoberfest Märzen lager at California’s Craft Brewer’s Cup, so you could say they know a thing or two about Oktoberfest! Head to AleSmith’s Miramar tasting room on September 18th for beer specials plus an event lineup starting at noon. Happenings include an Indie Arts Market from noon to 4 p.m., plus live music by the Bavarian Beer Garden Band from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Jump right into Oktoberfest contests, games and dancing, or gorge on hearty eats from Wicked Sausage Food Truck, while you take advantage of the brewery’s beer, stein and merch deals flowing all day long.

Join Tavern at the Vogue as they celebrate their 2nd Anniversary with an Oktoberfest Extravaganza on Saturday, September 18! The Chula Vista restaurant and bar will kick off Oktoberfest festivities beginning at 2 p.m. through 11 p.m. and feature live music alongside a medley of Oktoberfest inspired bites and brews including a vast selection of beers, signature pretzels, and sausages. Maximize the fun and wear your best outfit for a chance to compete in the men’s, women’s or kid’s costume contest, or try your hand at the stein holding contest for fun prizes. Attendees can also enjoy larger than life games including beer checkers, giant Jenga, cornhole, and the biggest round of bingo yet! Tavern at the Vogue is located at 230 Third Avenue Chula Vista, CA 91910.
