Blue Bridge Hospitality Will Launch “Liberty Public Farmers Market” With More Than 60 Vendors: 17 California Certified Growers, 30 Specialty Food Purveyors, 20 Artisan Craftsman, Live Music, A Chef Dinner Series, Pop-Up Tastings, Culinary Demos and More.
San Diego based restaurateur David Spatafore, Principal of Blue Bridge Hospitality (Liberty Public Market, Stake Chophouse & Bar, Leroy’s Kitchen & Lounge) is at it again! On the heels of Liberty Public Market’s one-year anniversary, Blue Bridge announces the launch of Liberty Public Farmers Market, a new weekly showcase that will take place year-round every Thursday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. beginning May 4th, 2017. The market will be located in the heart of the neighborhood’s burgeoning ARTS DISTRICT, directly across the street from Liberty Public Market between Sims Rd. and Decatur Ct.
As an official state certified farmers market, Liberty Station’s marketplace will offer safe and nutritious fruits and vegetables exclusively sold by California growers —giving neighboring families and visiting shoppers a chance to fill their baskets with the county’s freshest harvest each week. With room to expand as the venture progresses, Liberty Public Farmers Market is slated to debut with 17 growers (including a number of local San Diego farms), and 30 area-based specialty food purveyors. Additionally, the market will feature 20 craftsman and artisan brands offering handmade gifts from local merchants as well as live entertainment provided by local musicians each week.

ABOUT LIBERTY PUBLIC MARKET: Set in a 1920s-era naval base commissary in San Diego’s burgeoning Liberty Station neighborhood, Liberty Public Market brings nearly 30 local artisans and retailers to one open 25,000-square-foot-space. Blue Bridge Hospitality, the driving force behind this ambitious endeavor, worked to preserve the building’s historical Spanish Revival-style architecture with a variety of unique stalls offering a mix of ready-made foods and and storefronts including a produce merchant, an old-school butcher shop, a fishmonger for in-house dining and retail, as well as a vast selection of worldly eclectic cuisines, and locally-focused artisans and retailers. In the eastern-most dining hall, guests can explore three additional eateries that utilize a market-to-menu approach in planning their menus. Taking advantage of San Diego’s year-round sunshine, the market offers 3,000 square feet of outdoor patio space decorated with olive trees and a chef’s garden for use in the quick service market-to-menu at Mess Hall Bar, onsite tapas and wine bar Grape Smuggler, and wood-fired pizza al taglio from Pi Bar. Adding to the market’s expansive patio, Liberty Station’s developers built out 5,000 square feet of public-friendly outdoor living rooms and dining decks that surround the market property, perfect for a quick meeting over coffee or casual al fresco market dining.
Liberty Public Market is located at 2820 Historic Decatur Rd inside Liberty Station, and open daily from 11a.m. to 7p.m. Hours for specific vendors may vary. A complete list of vendors, including their specific hours of operation, and more information can be found at www.libertypublicmarket.com.
