Soo Cali; wild arugula, tomato, crispy onions, spicy basil aioli, avocado

Dog Haus, the celebrated California-based concept known for its gourmet hot dogs, sausages, burgers and one-of-a-kind creations, will open its newest location on Friday, Oct. 21.

Located at 969 Ninth Ave in downtown San Diego, this will be franchisee owners Laura Zhang and Kelvin Cui’s first location with the emerging restaurant brand, which was originally founded by Partners Hagop Giragossian, André Vener and Quasim Riaz in 2010 to recapture the nostalgic childhood experience of eating a hot dog.

Haus’ hot dog creations feature signature all beef skinless dogs served up on grilled Hawaiian rolls. Fan favorites include Sooo Cali, with wild arugula, tomato, crispy onions, spicy basil aioli and avocado; Downtown Dog, featuring a smoked bacon wrapped dog topped with caramelized onions, pickled peppers, mayo, mustard and ketchup; and Cowboy, with white American cheese, smoked bacon, bbq sauce and crispy onions. Dog Haus’ full menu also includes gourmet, sausages, burgers, corn dogs, sides, shakes and beer.

Dog Haus Biergarten San Diego is set to officially open on Friday, Oct. 21 with free hot dogs on the grand opening day!

To complement the main offerings, diners can pair their meal with a can of red or white wine or imbibe from a selection of draught and canned craft beer options that include a varied range of styles to fit every beer drinker’s taste. Guests can enjoy their cans served up in Dog Haus koozies, a nod to backyard BBQs; or, alternatively, all those with a classic PBR craving can get their lager fix with a brown paper bag wrapped can.

The fast-casual concept, designed to elevate the nostalgic experience of eating that quintessential hot dog or burger, combines this nostalgia with the contemporary aesthetic of its modern industrial space. After ordering at the counter, diners can grab a barstool at the communal tables with exposed I-beams or claim a seat at one of the reclaimed wood and steel tables with benches that boast playful phrases, such as “Nice Buns,” throughout the restaurant. The 4,030 square-foot restaurant is the perfect setting to watch your favorite team play on any of the flat screen TVs or step outside and enjoy your dog on the patio tables.

“As an entrepreneur, there’s not much better than bringing something new to a city,” said co-owner Cui. “I can’t wait to see how the community embraces Dog Haus. We have dedicated more than two years to the planning and site selection for this milestone opening in southern California. We wanted to open with the right timing and location and we’re now officially ready to welcome San Diego to meet Dog Haus Biergarten!”

The new restaurant, located at 969 Ninth Ave, San Diego, CA 92101 will be open for lunch, happy hour and dinner. For more information, visit, and follow Dog Haus San Diego on Facebook to stay up to date on all location specific happenings.
