National Dessert Month

Halloween only comes around once a year, but luckily October is also National Dessert Month, which means you can treat yourself to something sweet all 31 days. And there is no better way to pay homage to this frightfully delicious month than by indulging yourself in some dessert after dinner. Luckily, we have some amazing San Diego recommendations to satisfy your cravings.

If you are longing for something authentic and homemade, Opercaffe’s handmade desserts are sure to appease your sweet tooth. Serving you authentic, award-winning Italian cuisine in the heart of Gaslamp, you can start the night with one of their crowd-favorite pasta dishes like Penne Portofino, served with fresh-water prawns, or Ravioli Aragosta. For an entree, we love the Veal Shank Ossobuco or Tagliata. After dinner make sure to save room for their mouth-watering Tiramisu or Cannoli. You really cannot go wrong with any of their other custom desserts.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream. And if you are itching to try some “out of the box” flavors, Metlbar Creamery & Cafe, in North Park, is the perfect destination for you. They offer a variety of boozy ice creams, like Mezcal Peanut Butter Milkshake, Mezcal peanut butter ice cream topped with peanut butter cups, cookies, and whipped crème. Or try the Tygrr King Malt blended with malted milk, malted milk balls, and whipped crème. No worries, we did not forget about the kids! They also have a wide choice of non-alcoholic ice cream floats, cones, etc. that will satisfy anybody’s sugar craving.

If there was ever one power couple that no one could resist obsessing over, it would most certainly be tacos and churros. This combination is truly a match made in heaven! Quiero Tacos, in Seaport Village offers dinner with a view, where you can kick off your dining experience with an order of Macho Nachos, then grab a savory, battered Fish Taco, loaded with cabbage, onion, tomato, and homemade chipotle aioli.  And to end the evening on a sweet note, try some of the decadent Churros Rellenos con Canela– a delicious, crisped pastry infused with rich caramel, and dusted with cinnamon sugar. An experience offering tidbits, tacos, and tasty desserts, all with an immaculate view.

Bub’s @ the Beach, located along Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach, has you covered with fun specials every night of the week. Whether you are popping by for Taco Tuesday, Wing Wednesday, or Trivia Thursdays, you can always end the night with their scrumptious Solo Cup Sundae, complete with vanilla bean ice cream and topped with caramel, chocolate, and whipped creme. Every day there is something to celebrate at Bub’s!

Searching for an interactive dining experience filled with flavor and centered around family? Well, look no further than, Mongolian Hot Pot. The family-owned and operated restaurant, in Claremont Mesa, offers a wide variety of custom hot pots, sides, and desserts. After you and your party of guests enjoy a few of their signature hot pot dishes, make sure to try their delectable, and unique, Yam Mochi with Red Bean filling. Or opt for one of their fun ice cream flavors like Black Bean, Mango, or Plum.

Duck Dive is your one-stop spot offering brunch, lunch, dinner, and dessert, conveniently within walking distance to the beach. Whether it be mimosas in the morning, Wine Wednesday nights, or beer on game day, from Wednesday to Sunday, Duck Dive has got you covered. Don’t forget to end every celebration with Duck Dive’s Chocolate Chip Pazookie, served with a scoop of ice cream, or their caramel-filled churros, with chocolate dipping sauce.
