Bertrand Hug and Executive Chef Stephane Voitzwinkler are pleased to announce the appointment of Sean McCart to serve as Chef de Cuisine as they enter another season of sky-high fine dining at Mister A’s restaurant.
A San Diego County native, McCart developed a childhood appreciation for the abundance of farm fresh produce and sustainably-sourced meats available in Southern California which he has carried with him throughout his career. “Growing up, I always enjoyed watching my mom host guests at our home in Julian – the joy she found in cooking for people was something I related to early on, and it was this interest in entertaining and creating memories through food that eventually drew me to the restaurant industry. I get most of my inspiration from those that I cook for, rather than those who came before me,” he says.
This passion for connecting over food, and commitment to cooking with the seasons makes McCart a natural fit at Mister A’s, where long-standing partnerships with Specialty Produce and Rancho Santa Fe’s Chino Farm are the foundation for a menu that changes almost daily with availability of ingredients and the creative whim of Chef Voitzwinkler. Meanwhile, Mister A’s has long been noted for its impeccable service and ability to make guests feel at home in the twelfth floor dining room with sweeping city views, which is now only enhanced by McCart’s dedication to making sure every dining experience is a special one.
Previously a Sous Chef at Juniper & Ivy, McCart is enjoying his 15th year in the restaurant industry and is excited to continue exploring and expanding his repertoire in his new position.
