San Diego born, fast-casual Middle Eastern restaurant Simsim Outstanding Shawarma will open a second location in Camel Mountain Plaza this fall. Spearheading the growth is co-founder, president and CEO, Nawar Miri, formerly Urban Plates corporate director. Simsim’s first location, in Clairemont Mesa, opened in fall 2018.
The next step in the concept’s planned local expansion, the Carmel Mountain location will serve new meaty grill staples like kebab and tikka in addition to signature from-scratch dishes, including the namesake shawarma wraps, bowls and sides like the super creamy hummus, moutabel and traditional baba ghanoush. The menu is overseen by Simsim’s Executive Chef Ibrahim Alsharief, who moved from his native Jordan to join the team.
The interior of the new 2,400-square-foot space will reflect the brand’s signature bright and modern design, featuring terrazzo and cork accents, lots of greenery and ample indoor and outdoor seating.
