Halloween Happenings

It’s spooky season and Halloween Happenings are right around the corner, and San Diego’s top eateries and beer destinations are gearing up to celebrate!

Are you ready for Fright Nights at AleSmith? Pack an extra pair of pants and head to the brewery’s Miramar tasting room for a series of haunted tours, taking place from October 22 – 24 and 28 – 31. Open to all ages – albeit, courageous – you’ll get the chance to venture from the brewery’s shipping docks and facilities, all the way back to the Zien Family Farm just to uncover what exactly makes Evil Dead Red so darn irresistible. The faint of heart can wait for the rest of their party in the tasting room or attend on October 30th and 31st, during which they’ll host their Light Fright – perfect for little monsters and families… the Red Harvest is no place for scaredy cats. Those brave enough to face the looming wheat fields may purchase tickets here.

Step right up! On Sunday, October 31st, barleymash will be putting on a show with their Haunted Circus Halloween extravaganza. The Gaslamp restaurant and bar has partnered with Jägermeister and Teremana Tequila for ‘the greatest show on Earth’ that includes a costume contest, both solo and group, with a chance to win prizes, along with themed cocktails. Try the The Ring of Fire, with Teremana Blanco, lime, agave, jalapeños, blood orange rock, and tajin, or The Balancing Act, made with Jägermeister, bourbon, aperol, and lemon. Spectators can also order The Trapeze Jager Cold Brew, cinnamon cold brew, cinnamon syrup, and bitters, or The Clown Car, a combination of Jager Scharf Hot Ginger, raspberry, lemon, and ginger beer.

Halloween might be filled with tricks or treats, but there are no tricks about how delightful the holiday treats are at North Park’s Metlbar Creamery & Café! Available throughout the month, you can try four frighteningly delicious flavors: Vegan Rye n Pumpkin Pie – Templeton Rye Whiskey with Pumpkin Pie, Trick or Treat – made with Tequila & Black Cocoa ice cream filled with Halloween candies, Corpse Reviver Candy Corn – 3 layers of ice cream: Cointreau & orange, gin & lemon, Absinthe, and Halo-Halloween – Bourbon Pumpkin Pie, Taro & Ube Rum, black coconut ice, and Sweet Tart bats. These tasty offerings will only be available until Halloween, so be sure to stop by to try one (or all!) today.

Creep or crawl into any of Tajima’s six locations to taste their. Creepy Crawlers Seafood Ramen, a monthly special that you can only get your hands on through the end of October. Made with Tajima’s signature original Tonkotsu pork broth, this frightfully good bowl consists of egg noodles, seafood mix comprised of baby octopus, squid, cuttlefish, clam, and shrimp, half ramen egg, green onion, bean sprouts, mixed vegetables, fried garlic, and sesame seeds. The beverage menu varies from location, but you can enjoy with sake, wine, or beer!

Mavericks Beach Club has quite the Halloween lineup! The festivities kick off with PAWloween – doggy trick or treating, drink specials, live music, and a doggy costume contest – on Wednesday, Oct. 27th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Halloween WRESTLE MANIA is Thursday, October 28th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with drink specials and a wrestling costume contest. And on October 31st, join the beach bar for their Zombie Prom Mavericks Halloween Party, from 7:00 pm to 2:00 am. There will be drink specials, DJ’s, dance floors, contortionists, screams and much more!

Don your finest ‘stume and head to Bub’s @ the Beach during the Pacific Beach Halloween Pub Crawl, where you can enjoy spooky specials including $5 PBRs and Mike Hess Hop Cloud drafts, as well as $2 Jell-o shots, or $3 for three!

Little monsters need to eat too, which is why La Mesa’s Smokey & The Brisket will host Spooky Smokey Nights from October 29th through the 31st. Come dressed up, and for every adult meal purchased, kids eat free!

The Original 40 Brewing Company’s Cosimo Sorrentino has been busy crafting his own kind of witch’s brew with the launch of his Pumpkin Spice Seltzer, Caramel Apple Seltzer and Pumpkin Spice Brown Ale, all of which will launch just in time for Halloween weekend!
