October 14th is National Dessert Day and there are plenty of ways to celebrate around San Diego! From melt-in-your-mouth ice cream treats to irresistible chocolatey desserts, do yourself a favor and check out anyone of these spots.

While satisfying your craving for San Diego’s best ramen at Tajima, be sure to save room for dessert! The East Village and North Park locations offer warm Cinnamon Churros, and College Heights features two flavors of ice cream. Both Convoy and Mercury have tasty Mochi – a traditional Japanese dessert – in a variety of flavors like green tea, mano, strawberry, raspberry crunch, and salted caramel.

Found near the corner of Garnet and Mission Boulevard, in Pacific Beach,Backyard Kitchen & Tap features a local brews, inventive craft cocktails, and a scratch menu, with delectable dessert options. For those who love the one-of-a-kind campfire treat, you’re sure to love the S’mores Brownie, a dark chocolate and marshmallow brownie with graham crumble and marshmallowbrûlée.

Head down to Chula Vista’s Third Avenue and plan to visit Dulcet, a dessert shop and café, on National Dessert Day. Open for to-go and delivery orders, from Noon to 7:00 p.m., indulge in cupcakes, cookies, custom made cakes, cream puffs and more! Dulcet also offers cheesecake slices, including a unique and oh-so-delicious Pineapple Coconut, with graham cracker crust.

Another great spot located right along Third Avenue is Tavern at the Vogue. Along with salads, pizzas, sandwiches, and burgers, this laidback tavern offers a rotating menu of sweets made by Pastry Chef Daniela, of Daniela’s Kitchen. Currently available are Blondie Bars, Nutella Stuffed Cookies, and Cookies and Cream Cups. Diners can enjoy any of these items with Tavern at the Vogue’s limited indoor dining, outdoor dining, and to-go options!

The Smoking Gun, a Gaslamp favorite for hanging out and sipping on a cocktail, or two, also has a tons of delicious food items. With limited indoor seating and extended outdoor dining available, there is plenty of space to celebrate National Dessert Day with the Funnel Cookie, a giant fried chocolate chip cookie, topped with vanilla ice cream and berry coulis. You can also bring it back to simpler times, by treating yourself to a good, old fashion Milkshake, made with vanilla bean ice cream, whipped cream, and a cherry. And if you’re feeling extra celebratory, order it spiced with bourbon for $3 more!

Who says you can’t enjoy dessert for breakfast?! Spill the Beans, located in the same space as The Smoking Gun, features a variety of oh-so-sweet cream cheese flavors, including Agave & Vanilla, Very Berry, and a must-try Homemade Nutella spread. These tasty options can be served atop any of the freshly made bagels! And during the month of October, Spill the Beans is featuring a Pumpkin Spice Bagel, paired with Pumpkin Cheesecake Cream Cheese.
