April is National Humor Month and the 1st kicked off a whole new list of funny flicks on streaming apps like Netflix, HBO and more. With San Diego bartenders shaking up libations like The Ron Burgundy or Pablo Discobar, how could we not pair these adult beverages with a few comedy picks? Here are our favs to keep you and yours laughing all month!

Cult classic comedy Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy was filmed here in San Diego and the Gaslamp District’s barleymash pays a tribute to the film through many of their cocktails. Sip on The Ron Burgundy, a concoction made with Russell’s Reserve Hand-Selected Single Barrel Bourbon, sugar and angostura bitters or if tequila is more your style, opt for theAfternoon Delight. The mix of Herradura baleymash selected “Double Barrel” Reposado tequila, pineapple, jalapeños, agave and fresh lime is finished with a tajin rim to create an oh-so-refreshing beverage. You stay classy, San Diego!

Head to where Grand meets the sand and enjoy an ice-cold drink at PB Shore Club. This iconic beach bar is known for their Red Bull Vodka Slushies, but we encourage you to taste the Tropic Thunder Slushy, a frozen blend of Tropical Red Bull, Absolute Grapefruit and Malibu Lime. Like the action-packed comedy, Tropic Thunder, featuring Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr., this cocktail is wild.

Laissez les bon temps roule at North Park’s Louisiana Purchase! And if you’ve ever seen the comedy Girls Trip, where four friends turn a work trip into a vacation reunion, you’ll understand all the fun that can be had sipping NOLA-style cocktails. Louisiana Purchase’sHurricane POP comes with a bag of Pop Rocks to pair with the rum-infused classic cocktail. Or for a larger group, go big with the Pablo Discobar, which serves 3 – 5. Earl grey infused elyx, Colombian rum, oleo saccharum, guava, mango and kombucha, all presented in a disco ball, guarantees a great time!

Swashbucklers and scallywags gear up for some fun at Miss B’s Coconut Club, a Caribbean-inspired bar and eatery located in Mission Beach. Rum is the star of the drink menu and has a leading role in the creative list of grownup cocktails, such as Blackbeard’s Delight. Made with Navy Strength Gin, fresh lemon juice, pomegranate, ginger, fresh grapefruit and Angostura Bitters, this beverage would pair perfectly with any of the five Pirates of the Caribbean films. Comedy and action, along with a great drink – what more could you want?!

If you haven’t seen Breakfast Club, a comedy about five high school students who bond through being stuck in detention on a Saturday, you’re missing out on one of the best flicks from the 1980’s! Similar to the film, Breakfast Republic is San Diego’s favorite breakfast and brunch spot you really don’t want to miss out on. With locations from OB to Carmel Valley, there are plenty of spots to start the day on the right foot with delicious eats and a breakfast cocktail. Try the Horchata Cold Brew, a simple blend of Fugu Horchata Vodka and nitro cold brew, that will both help you wake up and keep you caffeinated throughout the day!
