‘Tis the season – to drink for a good cause. Local restaurants Farmer’s Table and Farmer’s Bottega have rolled out cocktail menu changes that include several cocktails that give back to their immediate local community. These new ‘Cocktails for a Cause’ drinks will stay on the menus, not just a seasonal addition for the charitable time of year. Each restaurant’s menu includes drinks that help local nonprofits as well as nonprofits that benefit the larger San Diego area.
At Farmer’s Table (locations in Bay Park and La Mesa) $1 from each sale will go towards select local nonprofits around San Diego! Cocktails include The Bee’s Knees, crafted from spiced rum, local loganberry honey and fresh orange juice, finished with a honey-infused ice cube, That’ll Do Pig, comprised of botanical gin, egg whites, a dash of rose water bitters, cold press lemon and agave, garnished with an edible flower, and finally, their Red Sangria packed with farm-fresh ingredients.
Nonprofit organizations supported by Farmer’s Table’s Cocktails for a Cause include Paws4Thought Animal Rescue, Urban Street Angels, an organization dedicated to ending youth homelessness, San Diego Roots, an nonprofit made up of citizens, farmers, chefs, gardeners, teachers and students who work to encourage the growth and consumption of regional food, and Stepping Higher, a nonprofit organization that funnels its efforts into the restoration, development and establishment of cultural and personal achievement at all levels of the community.
Sister restaurant Farmer’s Bottega in Mission Hills is featuring cocktails including their House Sangria prepared with red wine and fresh fruit, Bottega Lemonade made with Old Smokey Moonshine, lemonade, blackberry and basil, and their Salty Dog, prepared with vodka and fresh grapefruit, finished with a salted rim. Nonprofit recipients include Mission Hills Heritage, dedicated to preserving and protecting the
