San Diego mezcal bar and kitchen Tahona will host an intimate Chef’s Table dining event alongside artisanal mezcal from Origen Raiz during a one-night-only dinner paired with the Mexican mezcal brand on Wednesday, December 11 between 7 and 9:30 p.m. This intimate dinner will take place in Tahona’s mezcal tasting room, where more than 140 types of mezcal are regularly available for tastings and purchase.
Tahona’s Executive Chef Adrian Villareal, who focuses on sophisticated Mexican cuisine and has cooked in such hotspots around the world as the famed Noma in Denmark, will create a four-course menu unique to this evening and designed to accentuate the flavors of Mexico’s favorite spirit, mezcal – the end result being experiential dining in every bite. Joining Chef Adrian at Tahona this night will be Bildo Saravia, owner of Origen Raiz, who will provide insight into the four expressions of mezcal presented alongside each course.
Reservations to experience Tahona’s Chef’s Table Dinner featuring Origen Raiz are available at www.tahonabar.com. During this evening, Tahona will also offer a special happy hour to all between 5 and 7 p.m. featuring Origen Raiz mezcal and a surprise cocktail, with all profits from sales of the evening’s special cocktail going to Corazon de Vida, a 501C3 nonprofit designed to support ten orphanages throughout Baja California. Walk-ins are welcome during happy hour.
Further information about Tahona’s upcoming events—which regularly include mezcal medications, Baja day tours, tasting menus and more—are available at www.tahonabar.com and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/pg/tahonamezcal/events.
About Tahona: San Diego’s sophisticated mezcal cocktail bar, tasting room and restaurant Tahona opened November 2018 in historic Old Town next door to the historic Cemetery of El Campo Santo. Inspired by Mexican culture and traditions, Tahona’s craft cocktail menu takes the stage with creative cocktails such as the Whaley House Punch, named after the famously haunted house in Old Town, and Campo Santo, named after the neighboring cemetary. A menu of modern Mexican cuisine with Oaxacan influence includes gourmet tacos, a Tres Moles tasting flight, Baja favorites including aguachile and indulgent house-made desserts. A rustic yet refined 2,000 square feet features oversized Spanish archways leading into a mezcal tasting room, hand painted tiles, Mexican rope seats and large rattan lights, hand troweled clay walls and more elements exuding a wanderlust-worthy aesthetic. Tahona is open daily from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. at 2414 San Diego Avenue in Old Town. Visit www.tahonabar.com and follow along on Instagram at @tahonamezcal.
