The holidays are just around the corner and if you haven’t already started planning get-togethers with loved ones, then there is no better time than right now. For some, festive gatherings are all about the food, and Carlsbad’s Park 101 wants to lend a hand by providing tips on how to build the perfect charcuterie board for your holiday party this season.

Charcuterie boards are a way to enjoy some nibbles with friends and family, along with keep guests satisfied until dinner or entrées are ready.

  • For including cuts of meat, estimate about 3 – 4 slices per person. Park 101 use a variety of flavors and textures such as salami finocchioa and spicy salami calabrese.
  • It’s not a true charcuterie board without cheese and you’ll want to incorporate plenty of this appetizer. Cheeses are easiest served already sliced, and you’ll want to look for various hard and soft cheeses from mellow to sharp. Abbey Danish blue, hatch chili cheddar and smoked cheddar can all be found on the board served at Park 101’s second-story deck.
  • Variety is key when adding additional items to your meat and cheese board. Crackers and toasted baguettes are great to include for guests to taste with the cheese and meat. Both dried and fresh fruit will add color and lots of fun flavor to your charcuterie board!
  • Adding dill pickles, olives, jellies, mustards and delicious dips is a great way to add some zip and flavor to your board. Park 101 incorporates their house pickles, mixed nuts, honeycomb and house made mustard sauce.
