Pop Pie Co. is San Diego’s go-to fast casual restaurant for all things encased in crust. Pop Pie’s co-owners Steven Torres and Gan Suebsarakham have organized some truly great collaboration pies for Pi Day on March 14th. The celebrating starts at 8 a.m. with a number of one-day-only specials, including:
- Three Chef Collaboration pies with notable SD chefs including Chef Hanis Cavin (formerly of Carnitas Snack Shack) of The Porchetta Shack, Chef Andy Harris of Grand Ole BBQ y Asado and Sergio Garcia of Chicano Soul Food. Chef Hanis will be creating a Porchetta Pot Pie, Chef Andy will be bringing back his Smoked BBQ Pulled Pork Mac ‘n’ Cheese Pot Pie and Sergio will be bringing back his Vegan Guisado Pot Pie.
- The first 50 people in line when they open at 8 a.m. will receive a free hand pie. The first 30 will also receive free Pop Pie Co. merch
- $3.14 local craft beer pours all day
Locally owned, the University Heights shop showcases the signature all butter crust by Executive Chef Gan Suebsarakham, with a rotating menu of sweet and savory pies made in-house daily. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week, the menu features a variety of pies from mini pies to hand pies to classic pies. Pop Pie Co.’s menu is globally inspired, with influence from Australia, Europe and Asia finding its way into specialty pies. The restaurant serves as a community hangout, with communal seating, local craft beer on tap and a specialty coffee bar to help you wake up in the morning.
