A new burger concept hits San Diego this week from culinary mastermind Chef Michael Mina and the MINA Group: introducing Bourbon Burger Bar, now open for takeout and delivery.
With additional locations recently launched in San Francisco and Los Angeles, Bourbon Burger Bar serves up an indulgent steakhouse burger experience at home or on the go for San Diego Mina style. This is the third ghost kitchen concept to debut at the One Paseo shopping destination from Mina in recent months, following the debut of Tokyo Hot Chicken in September 2020 and Mac ‘N Cue in December 2020 – also housed in the MINA Group’s restaurant, International Smoke Del Mar.
“Bourbon Burger Bar is a way for our already established restaurants to celebrate the use of a fully operational kitchen to bring to life another craveable concept,” says Chef Michael Mina. “San Diego is a city of burger fanatics, and the ones we’ve perfected at our Los Angeles restaurant, Bourbon Steak, have become such a hit that we’ve introduced a completely dedicated concept just to serve up more of them. These are truly next-level steakhouse burgers—they aren’t your everyday drive-thru style.”
The menu features half pound Prime Dry-Aged Steak patties with topping variations such as black truffle and applewood smoked bacon, piled high on to freshly baked and toasted brioche buns with melted aged cheddar and caramelized onion.
For those who are craving beefless burger options, Bourbon Burger Bar offers a Heritage Turkey Burger with pepper jack cheese and smashed brokaw avocado, a BBQ Wild Salmon burger with jalapeño, cilantro, sliced cucumbers, ginger aioli and sesame-chili sauce, and a mushroom based Veggie Burger that includes Mina’s signature Yuzu kosho aioli, pickled veggies and shredded napa cabbage, served on a togarashi toasted bun. All of the patties can be served bun-less as hearty salad, with kids options also available.
Not to be overlooked are the sides, as Bourbon Burger Bar goes above and beyond with options such as thick-cut duck fat fries with caviar-topped crème fraiche (served with ¼ oz of caviar, chives and lemon) for opulent dipping. A variety of seasonal salads complement the rich menu, including a truffle salad served with endive, shaved mushrooms, fingerling potato chips and a truffle vinaigrette. Customers can complete their order with a selection of signature Bourbon Steak cocktails, bottled or canned beers and sparkling, white or red bottles of wine.
Bourbon Burger Bar is available for takeout and delivery through their website, Uber Eats, Postmates and Doordash. Bourbon Burger Bar is located inside of International Smoke Del Mar at the One Paseo Shopping Center (3387 Del Mar Heights Rd. San Diego, CA 92130) and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
