Conveniently located on the corner of Louisiana Street and University Avenue, in North Park, this intimate restaurant was inspired by the charm and character of New Orleans, with creative touches to give guests the feeling of warmth, community and fun. Architect Jeff Svitak helped create a modern interpretation of a classic French Quarter restaurant by introducing elements of wood, marble and rich velvet, with lush patio seating that flows seamlessly into the indoor dining space.
The rotating menu, which is dedicated to showcasing only the best seasonal ingredients, features big and bold flavors from the region. Executive Chef Quinnton “Q” Austin recently relocated to San Diego from New Orleans, bringing with him an exciting wealth of knowledge and experience in the culinary melting pot that defines Southern cuisine. Amongst his noteworthy creations thus far are Andouille Fried Red Beans and Rice, with chipotle mousse, Fried Redfish with crawfish etouffee sauce and his savory Alligator Cheesecake.
“We’ve been giving sneak peaks of the menu by offering Alligator Cheesecake samples at various food festivals and events around San Diego,” explains Chef Q. “And so far, people have been loving it!”
The restaurant will also yield a must-visit cocktail bar that focuses on quality and craftsmanship, with modern plays on classics like the Ramos gin fizz and the Sazerac, in addition to sharable punches like one such concoction served from a disco ball.
The food and beverage program at Louisiana Purchase, designed to mirror the exuberance of New Orleans, will be a fun treat for the senses, ever-evolving to turn first-time guests into regulars that keep coming back for more.
