40th Annual Cardiff Greek Festival

A Culinary Theater with live cooking classes for adults and kids, Café Prasino Vegan Booth, Ampelon Wine Bar, and a newly expanded Agora Marketplace are just a few of the highlights at the 40th Annual Cardiff Greek Festival. Saint Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church is presenting a new series of events under the culinary tent on Saturday and Sunday, September 8th and 9th, from 11:00-6:00. All classes are free to the public.

Greek Chef Mary Papoulias-Platis (California Greek Girl) resides in Encinitas and teaches culinary classes in San Diego. She will be teaching and coordinating the events during the festival. Delight in the new cooking classes which includes, The Powerfood, Chickpea, How to make a Greek Cheese Platter, Poaching in Olive Oil with Garden Tomatoes, Thyme to Spice it up with Greek Spices, Fruit Kabob and Baked Potato Kid’s classes, and Discovering the Greek Wines and Spirits from 2018 at 5’o’clock.

Stop by the expanded “Agora Marketplace” for all your Greek Specialty Foods. Available for purchase will be items such as cheeses, salami, jams, herbs, breads, honey and more. Enjoy an array of our favorites on the new mezze platter that will be available for purchase.

Cafe Prasino (green in Greek) will present healthy options for those who prefer a vegetarian and vegan diet. Offerings include a Greek Protein Bowl, Red Pepper Hummus, Baked Falafel Balls with Tahini Sauce, and Grape Leaves with Quinoa.

Explore our new “Ampelon” Wine Bar with live music, featuring refreshing wines and spirits from the many vineyards in Greece. Discover the latest varietals of wine from our experts in the industry. Stay and relax while listening to live Greek music.

Foodies of all ages came to Mary’s classes last year with standing room only to watch her cooking demos and get a bite of her creations. Her goal is to get “everyone cooking and back into the kitchen”. She thriveson seeing the spark in her student’s eyes as they learn a new cooking technique, taste a new spice, orembrace healthier approaches to cooking.
