San Diego is a melting pot full of flavors, and no one knows this better than Abe Botello, a San Diego native and the executive chef of West Coast Tavern. He comes from a lineage of San Diego restaurateurs and uses his upbringing in our city to create fresh takes on hearty comfort food favorites.
His brand new menu is no exception, combining unique protein from land and sea with exotic seasonings and organic neighborhood produce. The menu is not only filling, but also innovative in textures and tastes.
For example, Chef Abe incorporates tender bone marrow, grilled octopus and poached egg with butternut squash puree, fire roasted carrots, crisp carrots and a chili pepita crumb. His Ginger Shrimp also carries a burst of zest, made with ginger and soy marinated shrimp, hoisin aioli, togarashi, green onion and sesame seeds.
